"Theatre Organ Time" typifies a renaissance of these much loved instruments which many will remember from early cinema days as accompaniment to silent films. The Theatre Organ has entered a new era of popularity and "Theatre Organ Time" aims to introduce a new generation to the splendour of Theatre Organ music. The programme demonstrates the versatility of the instruments by featuring music from light classical to modern. Live studio interviews with visiting artists are conducted in addition to the weekly promotions of forthcoming concerts.
The voluntary programme commenced on 3rd July 1982 with the late Hubert Selby playing requests for listeners. Hubert was founder of The Cinema Organ Society, UK. After only 15 broadcasts it became apparent that the programme had wide appeal. However, due to other performance engagements Hubert Selby was unable to continue.
Mal McInnes with his extensive knowledge and collection of world wide Theatre Organ music stepped in and presented the programme every week for 16 years. Mal passed away suddenly after presenting the programme on 12th September 1998. He is greatly missed by friends, colleagues and listeners globally.
Before his death, Mal did spend some months mentoring, and sharing his vision of "Theatre Organ Time" with Lesley and Gary Robinson-Duggan. Lesley and Gary have been interested in Theatre Organ music for some years and are gradually developing a fine collection of music. Additionally, dedicated listeners of the programme further enhance the variety of Theatre Organ music by loaning or donating recordings to Gary and Lesley so that other listeners worldwide can enjoy them.

The station relies solely on subscriptions for funding, which will ensure the programme remains on air. For information on how to become a subscriber, please visit our subscription page.
