In the Japanese Pub: Where's the first place an Aussie goes when arriving in a new place? To check out the local pub. In Fukuoka-Hakata the place to go is Nakasu Island. Nakasu Island is located in the middle of the Naka-gawa (river) and is one of the busiest entertainment districts in the world! It is chock-a-block full of pubs, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, and panchinko parlours!1
Well I was stumped for choice, but Ritsuko phoned her brother and he recommended a place. We went to a traditional Japanese pub (called Izakaya). In the Izakaya you can get Japanese food at a reasonable cost as well as good local beers. While we were at the Izakaya we saw some Yakuza, but we decided against taking photos of them!
