A View of the Castle: After climbing up all of the stairs and walking up all of the roads that led from the outer castle grounds we came just outside the inner castle. To our disappointment (well mostly mine) we had come at a time when it was closed for maintenance for two weeks. I met an old Japanese man who said he had come all the way from Tokyo so he was going to get into the castle like a ninja.
We decided to eat our take away Japanese lunch in the outer castle grounds, we had purchased it at the convenience store in the train station. It was then I noticed a Japanese family sitting on the ancient stone walls eating KFC! I got Ritsuko to tell them how it was funny to see a Japanese family eating American fast food sitting on an ancient Japanese stonewall. We all had a big laugh at the irony of the situation!
