Rocky Summit: This is one of the lower mountain peaks (about 1200m) in Kirishima-Yaku National Park. It has a very Luna-like landscape (well, apart from the Blue Sky and Steam Vent).
While we were looking around this area I met three other gaijin (foreigners). One from England, one from Finland, and one from Hong Kong. It was the first time since Fukuoka Airport that I had met other gaijin in Japan!
Being from Australia I found it very cold at 1200m above sea level in Japan in winter, but the guy from England thought it was very pleasant compared to the miserable English winter he had just come from!
