Snow Garden: We went to one of the houses that had been turned into a restaurant for lunch. The lunch was traditional local cuisine. Since this village is so high up in the mountains, before the advent of modern roads this place was pretty isolated and they didn't eat fish like in other parts of Japan, so the local cuisine consisted of Tofu, Mushrooms, and Vegetables. The Tofu tasted like it was cooked in wine!
Outside the restaurant there was a garden and it was covered in snow as can be seen in the photo above. This day was the first day in my life that had been in the snow. What was interesting about the snow flakes was when I looked really closely I could see the patterns like on the cartoons but they were much smaller than the snowflake patterns in cartoons.
