
The Perth Tram: Kagoshima is Perth's (my hometown) sister city, and just as one of CAT buses in Perth is named after Kagoshima, one of the trams (see the above photo) in Kagoshima is named after Perth. Both Perth and Kagoshima are 31 degrees from the equator, Perth is 31 degrees south1 and Kagoshima is 31 degrees north2.
We had dinner at a nice restaurant in Kagoshima, then we caught the train out to Aira (about 30 minutes on the train) where we stayed the night with Ritsuko's brother (the one who came to her parents' house over New Year) and his family.
